        Bartoldus Hire Strengthens Gannett Fleming

(Woodbury, N.Y.) Doreen Bartoldus, P.E., CCM, LEED® GA, has joined Gannett Fleming as a vice president and regional construction services leader based in the firm’s Woodbury, N.Y., office. Bartoldus will mobilize business development efforts in the New York Metropolitan area, focused on water, wastewater, and facility opportunities with municipal clients and New York City agencies. She brings nearly 35 years of design and construction management (CM) experience to the firm.

Prior to joining Gannett Fleming, Bartoldus served as construction manager for significant New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) infrastructure improvements, including a $1.4 billion project to construct the world’s largest ultraviolet facility for the Catskill-Delaware water supply system. Familiar with New York CM firsts,

Bartoldus has developed and managed multimillion-dollar construction projects from the Northeast to the South Pacific.

“Doreen’s position enhances our CM capabilities and solidifies Gannett Fleming as the go-to firm for New York capital improvements,” said Fotios Papamichael, P.E., a vice president with Gannett Fleming. “She will lead our firm’s CM role on the Newtown Creek Wastewater Pollution Control Plant - New York City’s largest wastewater treatment facility.”

A New York CM champion, Bartoldus believes in giving back to her profession. She teaches the building information modeling and quality management aspects of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA)-certified construction manager course. Bartoldus also serves on the CMAA New York Metropolitan Chapter board of directors, where she is responsible for growing professional development.

A resident of Westchester, N.Y., Bartoldus was founding president of her hometown’s chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). She received an NAWIC member recruitment award in 2009 and now serves as the organization’s regional membership director. Active with the New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA), Bartoldus described the CM role in a project’s lifecycle and her own inspiring career journey during a 2012 NYWEA seminar on women’s initiatives.

Bartoldus holds a bachelor of science in civil and environmental engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University and a master of business administration in sustainable business from Green Mountain College. She is a registered professional engineer in New York, a certified construction manager, and a LEED Green Associate.
